The loudest part of any cannabis shelf is the high end. The fastest growing part is the opposite end, and it gets very little attention.
What low dose means
Broadly, products designed around 2.5mg or 5mg of THC rather than 10mg, and products where CBD is present in equal or greater amount than THC. In flower and pre-rolls it means lower THC cultivars and balanced options that most shops stock and almost nobody markets.
Why it is growing
Two reasons. New customers are arriving from outside cannabis culture entirely and have no interest in intensity. And a lot of long-time users have worked out that a smaller amount, more often, suits their week better than a large amount occasionally.
Where to start
- Beverages. The easiest entry point. Measured, fast onset, and many sit at 2.5mg. See cannabis beverages.
- Edibles at 2.5mg. A real dose, not a token one. Take one, wait two hours, decide nothing before then. See the edibles guide.
- Balanced 1:1 products. Equal THC and CBD. Milder and more even than THC alone.
- CBD-forward formats. Ratios like 20:1, where THC is present in very small amounts.
- A single small pre-roll. A 0.35g pre-roll from a multi-pack is a smaller commitment than a full gram.
A note on what we are not saying
You will find plenty of confident claims online about low-dose cannabis and productivity, focus, sleep or anxiety. We are a retail shop and we are not going to make health claims. What we will say is that people are buying smaller doses in growing numbers and that the shelf has responded. If you are considering cannabis in relation to a health condition or alongside medication, talk to a pharmacist or a doctor.
Practical advice
- Start at the lowest dose in the format you have chosen.
- Wait the full onset window before taking more. For edibles that is two hours.
- Write down what you took and what you thought. Two weeks of that beats any amount of reading.
